Why I Do This
For 20 years, I've worked in higher education residence life at the University of California's DC campus, helping young people navigate some of the biggest transitions of their lives. I've mediated conflicts, celebrated milestones, and created community where none existed before.
When friends started asking me to officiate their weddings, I discovered something powerful: the same skills that made me effective in residence life—active listening, conflict resolution, creating belonging—translated beautifully to helping couples craft ceremonies that felt genuinely theirs.
